How to Draw a Diamond?
Here’s a step by step process on how to draw a diamond.
Note: This is a digital drawing which I have made on Ibis Paint X. However you can replicate this drawing in any app or paper as well.
Step 1: Draw the Basic Diamond Shape
Begin by drawing a long horizontal line for the top edge of the diamond. From both ends of this line, draw two diagonal lines slanting downward until they meet at a single point. Keep both sides as even as possible so the basic diamond outline looks balanced and symmetrical.

Step 2: Create the Top Section
Add a second horizontal line slightly below the top edge. Extend short diagonal lines upward from both ends of this new line to connect with the original top corners. This creates the flat upper section, or crown, of the diamond and gives the drawing its recognizable gemstone shape.

Step 3: Add the Main Facet Lines
Start creating the diamondโs facets by drawing several diagonal lines inside the shape. Connect points along the upper section to the bottom tip of the diamond. Add a few angled divisions across the top as well. These lines should form clean triangular and polygonal sections that suggest cut crystal surfaces.

Step 4: Complete the Facet Pattern
Add more angled lines across the upper part of the diamond to divide the crown into smaller triangular sections. Refine the long facet lines below so they meet neatly at the bottom point. Try to keep the pattern balanced on both sides, giving the diamond a structured and symmetrical appearance.

Step 5: Refine the Drawing and Add Sparkles
Go over the main outline and facet lines to make them clean, sharp, and consistent. Erase any unnecessary construction marks or uneven lines. Once the diamond looks polished, draw a few simple four-point sparkle shapes around it. These small accents help emphasize the diamondโs shine and finished appearance.

Step 6: Add Color, Shading, and Highlights
Finish the diamond by adding light blue shading to selected facets. Leave some areas white to create bright reflections and use slightly darker blue tones along the outer sections for depth. Keep the black outlines visible and add a few final sparkles around the gem to make the diamond look glossy and radiant.
