How I Draw Aurra Sing from Star Wars
Aurra Sing has one of the most distinctive bounty hunter designs in the Star Wars universe. Her pale complexion, high tied-back hair, tactical clothing, and long-range weapons give her a silhouette that is immediately recognizable. Because her design contains so many small details, I find it much easier to draw her gradually rather than trying to finish everything at once.
For this drawing, I break the process into five stages. I begin with a simple gesture, build the body and outfit, refine the details, create clean line art, and then finish the illustration with color. Working this way helps me keep Aurra Singโs pose, proportions, and costume organized throughout the drawing.
Materials Used
This is a fully digital drawing, and I create it using Ibis Paint X.
For the process, I use:
- Ibis Paint X for sketching, line art, coloring, and shading
- Separate layers for each major stage
- A light pencil-style brush for rough sketches
- A clean pen brush for the final outlines
- Fill and selection tools for flat colors
- Additional layers for shadows, highlights, weapons, and costume detail.
How I Draw Aurra Sing
Step 1: Create the Basic Gesture and Pose
I start by drawing Aurra Sing as a very simple figure. I use an oval for the head, basic facial guidelines, and loose lines for the spine, shoulders, arms, hips, and legs. I mark the joints with circles and sketch simple shapes for the feet. I also add rough diagonal guidelines for her long rifles so I can establish the weapon placement before working on any costume details.

Step 2: Block In Aurra Singโs Forms
Once the pose looks right, I begin adding volume to the body. I build the torso, pelvis, arms, and legs with simple shapes while keeping the construction sketch visible underneath. I also block in Aurra Singโs distinctive hair shape, vest, belts, knee pads, boots, and utility gear. Her rifles become more defined at this stage, but I still keep the drawing loose and easy to adjust.

Step 3: Refine the Sketch and Add Details
Next, I draw a cleaner sketch over the block-in. This is where Aurra Sing starts to become recognizable. I refine her face, pale features, tied-up hair, tactical vest, gloves, holsters, straps, pouches, pants, knee protection, and boots. I also spend more time on the rifles, adding the stocks, barrels, grips, sights, and mechanical details while keeping everything consistent with the pose.

Step 4: Create the Clean Line Art
After the refined sketch is complete, I lower its opacity and create a new layer for the final line art. I trace the important shapes with smooth, confident strokes and remove unnecessary construction lines. I focus on keeping Aurra Singโs sharp facial features, hairstyle, tactical gear, and weapons clear. I also vary the line weight slightly so the character remains readable even with all the overlapping straps and equipment.

Step 5: Add the Final Colors and Shading
For the final stage, I add the colors beneath the line-art layer. I use very pale tones for Aurra Singโs skin, dark brown for her hair, brown shades for the leather and tactical equipment, and muted gray for the clothing and armor. I keep the rifles mostly dark gray with brown accents. Finally, I add simple shadows and highlights to give the drawing depth while preserving the clean comic-style finish.
