How To Draw a Peach
Here’s a simple step-by-step tutorial on how to draw a peach.
How To Draw a Peach – Step-By-Step Process
1. Sketch the Basic Shape of the Peach
Begin by lightly drawing a large circle to establish the overall size of the peach. Keep your pencil strokes soft and loose since this is just a guideline.
Next, draw a slightly curved vertical line inside the circle to indicate the natural crease (the indentation that runs from top to bottom on a peach). This line should not be perfectly straight — give it a gentle curve to make the fruit feel organic and natural.
At this stage, focus only on proportion and placement. Avoid pressing hard with your pencil so adjustments can be made easily.

2. Add the Stem and Leaf
At the top center of the circle, sketch a short, slightly curved stem emerging from a small dip in the peach. This dip helps make the fruit look more realistic.
Then draw a single leaf attached to the stem. The leaf should be elongated and slightly pointed at the end. Add a central vein running through the leaf and lightly sketch smaller veins branching outward.
Refine the outer shape of the peach slightly, making it less perfectly round and more natural. Peaches are subtly uneven, so gentle irregularities improve realism.

3. Define the Form and Begin Shading
Now start building depth. Identify your light source (for example, from the right side).
Darken the crease of the peach slightly to give it dimension. Begin shading the side opposite the light source with light, even pencil strokes. Gradually build tone along one side of the peach to create a rounded form.
Add soft shading where the leaf overlaps the peach and slightly under the stem to suggest depth. Keep your transitions smooth so the fruit appears three-dimensional.

4. Deepen Shadows and Add Final Details
Strengthen the darkest areas — typically along one side of the peach, within the crease, and beneath the leaf. Use layered strokes to create richer contrast.
Blend your shading gently for a smooth surface texture, but allow subtle grain to remain for realism.
Finally, draw a cast shadow beneath the peach on the surface it rests on. This anchors the fruit and prevents it from appearing to float. Darken the area closest to the peach and soften the shadow as it moves outward.
Refine edges, clean up stray lines, and enhance highlights by lightly erasing small areas where the light hits strongest.
